ESTC R22489 Wing H2099.Bound in contemporary blind ruled speckled calf, rebacked to style with five blind stamped compartments and four raised bands. With a black lettering piece in the second compartment from the top. Boards are scuffed, with the corners renewed. Binding now in a very good to near fine condition. Internally the leaves are generally clean and well margined with little in the way of stains or foxing. Title page with repaired sections. The volume measures 17.7 x 11.3 x 3 cm. Each leaf measures 172 x 106 mm. Historical Collections is written in the form of a dialogue between Fame and Truth, it includes accounts of the trials of Lord Stafford and others, with Lord Stafford s speech upon the scaffold. Written in a folksy manner with Fame posing questions to Truth who then provides common sense answers to the dangers of Popery as well as the state of the plot.
