A history of Harewood in the Leeds area. Noted today principally for Harewood House. Bound in original pebble-dash cloth which is sunned to the spine with loss at both ends. Foxing sporadic, some pencil marks to margins The inside cover has some interesting ownership details, two for Rev R V Taylor with an address in Rotherham and later Huddersfield. The latter is on a Victorian pre-paid postcard from 1882 with Huddersfield postal mark and barred cancellation mark '387' denoting Huddersfield. The card is from The Yorkshire Archaeological and Topographical Association. Underneath is a later signature of Colonel Leonard B Cane A.M.S 1940 with a stamped 'Commandant Harewood House Convalescent Hospital'. The house served as a convalescent home for rest and recuperation from short-term illnesses in the Second World War. Seller Inventory # 003351
