1st edition. Demy 4to size, pp. eng. frontis + 350 + 4 index + 2 col. decorated title and dedication pages + 25 lithograph plates (lacks the two plates of Grosmont, but no signs of removal - never bound in ?), all edges gilt, full, decorated leather. Contents - some foxing of preliminaries including frontis but none in text and no plates affected, no inscriptions, binding sound ; full, brown morocco with gilt pattern around perimeter of front and back, bevelled boards, title also to front board, spine with gilt title and panels delineated by gilt patterned lines with central crosses, corners rubbed, back is clean with some rubbing of surface around edges but gilt decoration is almost unaffected, back hinge is firm but shows some small worm holes, spine is clean, top of spine is rubbed but complete, bottom is frayed with slight loss, spine gilt is all but intact and bright, front is clean , again some worm damage to front hinge, slight rubbing of board edges, front gilt is complete and bright , leather overall has a good sheen to it. Despite the minor damage, stll a very presentable copy of a scarce book. (NB. A large, heavy book so postage costs will be higher than usual). Seller Inventory # 666
