The duration of this immensely important journey was from May 1804, to Sept. 1806, representing our national epic of exploration, conceived by Thomas Jefferson and, obtained from diaries, letters and other manuscript items. This special, limited edition gives the Nicholas Biddle text with scrupulous fidelity, even to indicating the original pagination---a convenience which every scholar will appreciate. Original green cloth boards. Vol. 4, as noted, is the Atlas or Map volume, containing 3 large fold-out maps. Vol. 4 is also the Index vol., pgs. 1299-1364. Previous owner, L. B. Each of the attractive green cloth vols. & spines are gilt lettered and are in very good cond. with rough cut front fore-edges; all vols of this scarce set are clean & very good cond.
