Adams, Six-Guns, 568 "Has a chapter on lawlessness and such bad men as Jack Davis, Sam Langford, and Farmer Peel." Rampaging Herd, 658. Paher, Nevada, 450: "Of the half dozen major statewide histories published, this set is considered to be the rarest of all, even surpassing a first edition of Myron Angel's 'Thompson & West'. Likely less than 300 sets were published, only a few dozen of which remain in private hands. Editor Davis has brought together a huge collection of historical essays and special treatises written by about 45 people, though much of it is his own work. several of the subject chapters are reliable renditions and have been used as primary sources for other books. a landmark study in Nevada history.".
