Shelf-rubbing at corner tip. Previous owner's name and date (1950) neatly written on front endpaper. Original DJ with $5.00 price intact on flap. DJ shows multiple open chips along edges and a small stain on rear. Considered the first definitive history of modern photography published by the MOMA in 1949; and dedicated to Alfred Stieglitz.163 plates from all the major players from Weston to Man Ray and scores of others.
