147 pages, frontis of Charles Goodnight, illustrations, minor cover wear, corners showing, four small spots on cover, This copy belonged to Clinton Henry and has his signature on the fly-leaf. Henry was a bookkeeper for the J A Ranch and is mentioned on four pages of the book. Laid in is a two page typed letter covering the history of the ranch, ownership, number of cowboys, cooks, bosses, water tanks, etc. In the postscript he mentions how many cattle were sold during one year. The letter isn?t signed or dated but most likely written by Henry. Reese Six-Score 18, "One of the first ranch histories, and one of the rarest and most important. It is not known how many copies of this book were printed, but it was certainly no more than several hundred. The JA Ranch was Col. Charles Goodnight's old ranch, and this book, issued a bit more than a year before he died was dedicated to him and done with his corporation." Herd 382, Merrill Aristocrats, Rader 551, Howes B1030.
