See photos for condition details. Hardcover, volume 1 ONLY of a two-volume set. The book exterior is in very poor condition: the original full leather binding has both boards detached, heavily worn, with large chipping to the spine and edges. The interior binding is complete but also has some issues. Foxing is present throughout and the first front free end page is detached. All of the text pages are still securely bound and firmly in place. At the top of the half title page there is a signature lightly penciled. The name written is P. V. V. Quackenbush. This was part of a larger collection from Nicholas Quackenbush - the son of the quartermaster served under George Washington, but we were unable to determine who P.V.V was in relation to Nicholas senior or junior. Although the exterior is in very poor condition, the internal pages are still quite readable, even with the foxing throughout. Good candidate for reference or for rebinding.
