_____Overview of the slave trade. ____Undated, but statistics to 1843 are cited, so probably produced in 1844. _____ This being the abolitionist period in Britain, emphasis is on that between Africa ("Negroland") and the New World. _____ Discusses the fact that while the slave trade has been made illegal, slavery has not._____ This has simply transformed a legal trade conducted by businessmen into a contraband one run by smugglers. _____ Also describes the hunting of Africans by Turks for enslavement in Turkey. _____ The conclusion section notes the rise of Abolitionists in America and their efforts to establish Liberia as a colony for repatriated slaves. _____ Folded and gathered sheets, never bound, as issued. _____ The publisher's slug runs down the spine fold. _____ The outermost sheet is lightly soiled._____The last 5 pages have been gnawed, with minor loss to letters. _____ Not in WorldCat._____.
