A near fine copy, in very good dust jackets, of the five-volume first US edition published between 1954 and 1958. The blue cloth bindings are clean, with slightly dulled, but fully legible, gilt lettering to the spines. Everything is square and tight with a little corner bumping but almost no wear. Inside the contents are clean and bright. There is a neatly inked owner's name and address to the front pastedowns, but otherwise no inscriptions or other markings of any kind The dust jackets are unclipped ($26.90 per volume), and otherwise fully intact, with only minor edgewear. The spines show a little browning and splashing. They now protected in removable mylar covers. Overall a magnificent set. Please see the associated images.
