About this Item

Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges. Small mark on right foredge. Dust jacket is in fair condition with numerous tears and insect damage. Dust jacket is now enclosed in protective covering. Book interior and binding are still excellent. Hobart is a unique city, with a unique history: rough-hewn in texture but gracious in many ways. Convicts, English gentlemen, army officers, roistering sailors and whalers, dedicated clergy, and down-to-earth common folk all did their part in establishing a settlement once known as "a nest of vipers". They left their own monuments in buildings that still stand and give the city its special atmosphere.
