About this Item

The Hobbit, 1937 1st Edition 2nd printing, 4 colour plates and 8 black and white illustrations. In very good condition with no internal signatures. All original Binding tight, square and the only fault is light foxing throughout but mainly towards the front. Both map endpapers in place and unmarked. A wonderful BH Blackwell book sellers small sticker on the bottom of the front endpaper. Presented in a 1st edition facsimile dust jacket and a beautiful clam shell case from Temple Bookbinders in Oxford.The book comes with 3 Tolkien photographs, one family photo from the late 1920's when the book was written for his children, also 2 photographs of the professor at Merton College in the 1950's.
