Hbk, although the is no printing information on the data page, the words Òsixth impressionÓ appear on dj front flap, probably making this one of 1000 copies sent to the US by Allen and Unwin to avoid import duties, illlustr map endpapers, dj duplicates that of the UK first edition, usual points, B at the bottom of P. 17, with lettering completed through U every 16pp to page 305, for the three Lord of the Rings titles only on half-title verso, no advertisements following p. 315, dj (identical to the 1st UK edition except with the edition indicated on the front flap, is near fine with barely perceptible toning to the spinestrip, faint rubbing to the corners, and a tiny loss from the head, otherwise exceptionally bright, clean, unclipped and now in protective sleeve, fine, crisp and clean green cloth with black titles, hinges sound and internally appears unread and a fine, clean, tight and unmarked copy of this exceptional volume.
