[64pp] Bound in original pictorial paper covered boards with a dust jacket. Profusely illustrated in colour by Bawden throughout. Top of spine bumped, dust wrapper has two tiny brown spots. Inside very clean with the odd thumb mark/ fold from mishandling. A very good almost fine copy. A collection of Bawden's stories originally written for his own family, but were not previously published. Original pictorial boards, in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [64]; with pictorial title-pages and a profusion of other coloured illustrations throughout, including many full-page, all printed by autolithography; externally and internally near fine with tiny bruising and mild rubbing to spine ends and forecorner tips, without ownership marks or inscriptions, in a generally fresh, unclipped dustwrapper (18s) with rubbing to forecorners, a tiny closed tear (1cm) to bottom edge of lower panel, and an area of light brown staining to top edge of lower panel and spine (100 x 50mm) really only visible on the inside and resulting in mild rippling of the paper.First edition of Edward Bawden's first book for children. This is a collection of nine individual stories which were originally written and drawn for the artist's children. He eventually redrew the images for this publication.
