B&W Plates from drawings; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 513 pages; 1916 John Lane. Stout HC in original olive green quarter cloth backed spine and olive green paper covered boards. 1st edition, 1st stated with p 173 integral. Titles in gilt to spine and in burgundy and gilt to cover; top edge gilt; other edges untrimmed. Cloth a little crimped at spine ends; light ruptures to paper over the boards at corner tips. Illustrated throughout from the moody and atmospheric drawings by Franklin Booth who accompanied Dreiser on this 4 state motor journey back to his childhood home in Indiana.
