First edition, 12mo., pp: [i-v],vi-viii,[ix],x-xi,[xii],[1]-173,[1],[4], final 4 pp of adverts loosely inserted at end, with the book label of Simon Nowell-Smith pasted to front pastedown endpaper and beneath that of Judith Adams Nowell-Smith. Nowell-Smith collation: " [A]6 B-H12 [1]3; no cancels. Pair of leaves ([K]2) sewn in at end, publisher's adverts. 'End of vol I' at foot of p.173 - why?" in original paper covered boards with paper title label to spine, worn at head & tail of spine, front board with weak hinge, lightly foxed endpapers, text crisp, very good. The second collaboration between the two brothers, following on the tremendous success of REJECTED ADDRESSES (1812). Although the text concludes "End op Vol. I " [sic], no further volume was published.
