A very well preserved copy of the true first edition of John Cohen's pioneering study of the origins and development of artificial humans, tracing the concept of robots from ancient mythology and alchemy through automata, science fiction and modern technology. An early and remarkably prescient examination of themes that would later emerge in artificial intelligence and robotics. Pages are excellent: bright and clean with no inscriptions, no notes, no stickers or stamps. Initial couple of pages have the slightest of browning otherwise remarkably crisp and bright pages. Binding is excellent. Boards are clean and tight. Unclipped dust jacket is very good indeed: the slightest of wear here and there otherwise very good. Illustrated.
