Third edition overall (per title page), "revised and greatly enlarged." pp. xviii, 312, in contemporary full leather binding. Lacking rear free endpaper, some pencil scribblings on pastedowns, light foxing; all else very good. Purves was a Scottish Universalist minister. Here he "upholds the doctrine of universal restoration and defends the Arian remodelling of the Trinity against Socinian Unitarianism" (DNB).
