Corner-clipped jacket front flap, so no price on the jacket, but has all other points of a US first edition: turquoise cloth hardcovers with brown graphic on front, pink dust jacket with blue titles and black-and-white dogs, "Illustrated by Janet & Anne Grahame-Johnstone" on its title page and jacket front flap (with myriad illustrations throughout the book), "Published in 1957 by The Viking Press, Inc." on its copyright page with no later date, and "The Viking Press / 625 Madison Ave., New York 22, N.Y." on its jacket back flap. This book is in very good condition, marred only by bumps on its covers' spine ends and bottom corners, with slightly faded topstain on its text block, and a trace of sunfade along the top edge of its covers. Its binding is sound and square, with no spine crease. Covers are unmarked and otherwise unworn. Pages are unmarked and unworn, with no perceptible age or sun toning. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is bright, whole, and unmarked, but merely in "good" condition due to a tape-repaired 4" tear in the top middle of its back, a tape-repaired 3" tear with chip in the bottom of its front, a tape-repaired 1" tear in the bottom of its front flap fold, and tape reinforcement on the ends of its spine and flap folds. All of this tape is still clear, so of modern manufacture, and it does not materially detract from the charming jacket art. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description. Simply noted: as when I acquired this book, tipped-in is a clipping from UK newspaper "The Independent" with a review of Valerie Grove's "DEAR DODIE: The Life of Dodie Smith".
