The letter and number in pen 'p.8.' to the top right corner of the cover. Publisher's label introducing the book and author on front cover with date April and trial price of 35s. Creasing to the spine. Internally unmarked; toning to the verso of rear cover. Jacket is the proof jacket for the proof, outsized, slightly taller than the proof. Not price-clipped. 'Proof only provisional publication date: April 16, 1970' on rear flap. Jacket spine is not sunned. Chipping to the top of the spine and creases to the top edge. Short closed-edge tear to top edge of front cover. Toning to the jacket spine verso and some colour has bled through to the verso here and there. Very short tears to jacket spine foot.
