Set of two volumes, Vol I, Parts I, II, & III published 1882, 405 pp. Vol II, Parts IV, V, & VI published 1883, 417 pp plus 32 pp of adverts and index. A 'newly' married set, all there but not pretty. Volume I in lighter red cloth with surface soiled cloth but has lovely vintage ads from a pair of London outfitters both peddling waterproofed & ventilated hunting coats: Edmiston & Son, Pall Mall, and J. C. Cording & Co., Picadilly. Both books are bound in red cloth with gilt titles and fox mask/whip on frt boards, tips bumped and brushed but no major rub through. Vol I's cloth is quite discolored and looks like it had a name written at the head of the frt board years ago, internally unmarked. Vol II's front board has nice red cloth but a sunned and soiled backstrip and a splash of something on rear board that bleached the color. Inside, the end papers are plain yellow with the former owner's name: George E. H. Fell on frt pastedown and 1/2" of red bleed from the cloth apparent at foot of endpapers only, no bleed marks on the following title page or anywhere else. Vol II, also with wear along front & rear gutter edges with 2 small splits in the cloth. Internally both vols are tight and bright with a bit of handling soil on page one of volume II, and occasional light foxing. A rare & exhaustive compendium of every British Hunt detailing the lays of their territory, details of their packs, hound breeding, days out hunting, staff and details of the best coverts and escapades afield.
