This is a collection of 28 issues published in 1967 from arguably the most notable self-published journalist project of the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s -- the I.F. Stone Weekly. Stone was a leftist journalist of the World War II and Cold War era who became increasing unemployable in the McCarthyite 1950s. Stone responded by launching a four-page, self published periodical of keen investigative and critical reporting. He was particularly incisive in reporting on the Vietnam, international affairs and the foibles of government, Stone bird-dogged issues for his avid readers among the gatekeepers of the then all-powerful mainstream media. His work is an excellent study of the determination, quality and tactics needed to bring alternative voices and perspectives into a closed media environment lacking the access to audiences made available by the modern Internet. This lot includes 28 issues published Jan. 9, 1967 to Dec. 18, 1967, Volume XV, No. 1-31 with numbers #12, #15, #23. Generally in Very Good condition, with each issue stamped with the address of the original subscriber and each issue previous twice folded for mailing. Seller Inventory # 010572
