oblong 8vo. stiff paper wrappers. xi, (i), 123+(1) pages. First edition. A fine copy. The Eighty Years' War (1568-1648), fought to free the Netherlands from Spain, was the first major conflict to be fought in any telling measure with paper propaganda. Pamphlets and broadsides were produced in great numbers. Most interesting of these were the ones with graphic images, created to stir the emotions and win the support of the people, becoming emblems for the war at each critical stage. With more than seventy-five black and white prints, bibliography and index. From the Thomas M. Whitehead Collection of Books About Books.
