Sole edition, first printing limited to 35 copies of which this is number 9. Size - 11.75 x 8.25 inches (A4 size), pp. 282 (pages printed on one side only), clear front cover, ring binding. Book condition - Fine ; contents very clean, original signatures of the authors on the second page, no other inscriptions, binding very sound ; clear front cover not marked or creased, rear cover (red card) clean. ' The purpose of this little study is to explore and document what is known to us about the airmails that went to or from or through Baghdad in the 1930's. The postage rates up to the change from the British Mandate to the independence of Iraq on 3rd October 1932 are reasonably well documented. but those . after this date have not, to our knowledge, been discussed or published in any detail. The main airlines were Imperial Airways, K.L.M., Deutsche Lufthansa and Air France [ and the postage] rate paid will often be a good indication of the airline which provided the airline service." - from the Introduction. Despite being described a "little study", the book contains a much detail - egs. General Iraq Postage Rate Information, British rates to India, The Use and Availability of Postage Stamps, Airmal services indicated by Days of Posting, Mial Destinations, Mail Carriers, Weight of Letters, Postage Due Covers, First Flight Covers, etc., plus a Bibliography and a 10 part Appendix.
