There is a vast difference between the view of Irish prehistory that was held half a century ago and the perspective that is presented to us now in this new work. The landscape was, as it were, just discernible in its present form a quarter of a century ago, when the last syntheses were published, but lacked detail. Now we have been supplied with a picture which enables us to find our way around. All students of Irish archaeology will need this book.
