Add to basketIRELAND'S CASE AGAINST CONSCRIPTION BY EAMONN DE VALERA. 1ST EDITION PAPERBACK. 45MM TEAR TO SPINE, COVERS SATINED AND SHOWING SOME WEAR. IV + 46 PAGES. Pale green wrappers, printed in black. Pamphlet to be given to the American President Woodrow Wilson, outlining the justification of Ireland's stand against British conscription. De Valera's work was cut short by his arrest and internment on 17 May 1918, and the work was completed and prepared for the press by Robert Brennan. The resulting text by the future President of the Republic might better be described as a manifesto of Ireland's claim to separate and independent nationhood.
