First edition. Tall octavo. 284pp., illustrations, engravings. Contemporary half morocco gilt and marbled papercovered boards. Boards lightly rubbed, old handwritten instructions to the binder bound in, one fashion plate detached but present and the spine mis-gilded as Volume XXVIII, still a handsome, near fine copy. Contains the first appearance of these two stories, as well as contributions by James Russell Lowell, Longfellow, and many others.
