A beautifully preserved, near faultless copy of this title which was shortlisted for the very first Booker Prize in 1969. The brilliant white paper covered boards are completely unmarked and the orange coloured title lettering on the spine is as strong and clear as new. There are no scratches, dents or bumps; all edges are straight, all corners sharp. The text block is square and tightly bound; all edges (of the text block) are spotless and the ochre stain on the top edge is bright and unfaded. Internally, the pages are clean and unmarked and there are no signs of previous ownership. The colours of the dust jacket - an orange, yellow and black arrangement of heart shapes by Kaye Bellman looks amazingly well preserved and bright for a book that's now well over fifty years old. The publisher's original price (25s. in the UK) is still in place. There is a small closed tear at the top of the spine panel where it meets the front panel. This is one of the harder to find Booker titles and very rare in such excellent condition. See five photos of this book and please ask for more if that would help. Seller Inventory # 160
