The Index Guide to Rome

This book is an alphabetical guide to the treasures of Rome. Part 1 has 23 pages of practical information including timetables for the museums, galleries and monuments, information about royal and papal audiences and details of tramway lines. Part 2 is concerned with the history, art, myths, legends, churches, palaces and museums of the city. In total there are 482 pages including photographs and also foldout maps - green cloth covered boards have rounded corners with odd soiling spots but no damage - the gilt title on the front is faded, as it is on the spine which is bumped top and tail - ten text block edges are age discoloured - there isa street plan Roma Urbs at the half title page - other foldout maps and plans are of the Forum Romanum, Mons Platinus and the larger city including bus and tram routes. The latter is tipped on to the back pastedown and has one closed tear. The other maps are in fine condition - there are photographs of notable features of he city throughout the guide - There is an owner's signature on the front endpaper and this is repeated on the half title page.…
