In the original unclipped dustwrapper. The Infernal Machine is a play by French dramatist, Jean Cocteau, based upon a retelling on the ancient Greek story of Oedipus. Modern understandings of the piece also point to Hamlet as another source of inspiration noting the similarities between the titular character and Cocteau's Oedipus. Cocteau was a French poet, playwright and filmmaker, best known for this work alongside his Orphic Trilogy. He is credited as being one of the avant-garde's most influential filmmakers. In the original red cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally very smart with slight wear to the extremities. Handling marks to the boards. Offsetting to first and last few pages. Contemporary ink inscription to front free endpaper. Dustwrapper is very smart with minor chipping to the extremities. Neat tape repairs to the reverse of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning. Very Good Indeed.
