A relatively early edition of one of the most important pieces of economics literature written (cf. PMM 221, 1st ed.). Owner mark on front free endpaper of each volume: "John Moriarty Jan. 1934". There are notes and annotations in gray and red pencil in each volume, not obtrusive, with most pages clean and only rarely extensive on any one page. 3 volumes.xliii, [1], 499; [2], viii, 523; vii, [1], 515 pp. With half-titles in Volumes 2-3 (there is not a half-title page called for with Volume 1). A New Edition, to which is Prefixed An Account of the Life of the Author, and a View of His Doctrine Compared with that of the French Economists. Binding moderately dry and rubbed. Pages with light toning, occasional foxing, pp. 17-31 of Volume 2 have some edge damage with minor loss not affecting text; light creasing from the first leaf to about page 20 in Volume 3. Overall attractive: Very Good+. Early half calf and marbled boards, raised bands, spine decorated in gilt, with red and green morocco lettering pieces.
