Contemporary full polished calf, leather of upper front hinge of volume 1 just starting to split and a few faults in polish of lower board; somewhat rubbed. Some smudges on title page of Vol. 2, some traces of damp to last flyleaf and last three leaves of Vol. 3, very occasional unobtrusive spotting. Else fine.

The second (and first octavo) printing of the most important book in the history of economics, appearing just a few moths after the first London edition in quarto. (The classic fine bindings could be easily duplicated by a skilled binder, making this an ideal copy to complement an odd volume.).
