About this Item
1904. First edition. vii, 325pp., a coloured frontispiece and 135 illustrations within the text. There is a 40 page publisher's catalogue at the end of the book. This is an elementary text for the study of Spectrum Analysis. The purpose of the book is to fill the place of a text-book preparatory to the heavier standard books that deal with spectroscopy too much in detail, for the wants of professional investigators. It aims to meet the wants of students at work: It explains hos a spectrum is produced; the flame spectra, and those obtained by electricity, absorbtion spectra, and by the electric arc. The production of the diffraction spectrum and measurement of wave-lengths with the many cuts for illustration is a valuable chapter. The book is bound in the original grey cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling and staining on both boards. The spine is browned and the spine ends are bumped. The contents are tight and clean with browning to the back of the free endpapers. Some notes have been written in pencil on the back of the rear free endpaper and a name is written in pencil on the second front free endpaper. Seller Inventory # gScience10
