FIRST EDITION. ** Antiquarian binding features orange cloth covers with gilt on front and rounded spine. Covers display commensurate aging and wear, with overall fading and damp staining all along upper part of front, and scattered on back. Damp stain goes into front cover 2.5" maximum from head edge, and 1.5" maximum into back cover from fore edge. Boards exhibit moderate edgewear with rubbing and bumped corners. Spine is strongly sunned and displays overall damp staining, continuing from covers. Ends are softened. Binding is secure and intact. Endpapers are toned and foxed. Back endpaper shows marginal damp staining, going in 0.25" maximum. Interior displays gentle age-toning throughout, with occasional scattered foxing, mostly marginal. Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. Last quarter portion of book shows a slight persistent marginal damp stain along head and fore edges. A few pages (four?) have the known printing flaw with offset shadow of type on page. Page 176 has a 1.25 vertical closed tear going into page from foot edge. Text block edges show commensurate toning, as well as darkening along head edge. Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear. ** 248 pages. 5.5 x 7.75 inches. ** The Invasion of New York is a fictional work that depicts what might very possibly happen to the United States in the case of a Japanese attack if the US decided to not secure a hold on Hawaii.
