A collection of 110 newsletters of the Irish Film Society - Cumann na Scannan , dating from 1947 to 1961, there are a few breaks in the newsletters, but almost a complete run together with various programmes and releases from the society. The National Film Institute (NFI, now the IFI) was founded in 1943 and officially incorporated on 2 June 1945. , The Irish Film Society, was interested in interpreting and understanding the art of cinema, while the other leading film organisation of the time the NFI saw itself as the teacher and moral guardian of the cinema-going public, which eventually became the IFI.
