437p. A green cloth hardcover book in very good condition. Edges barely rubbed, faint outline of a sticker on the spine, and faint horizontal rub marks near bottom of front cover. Bookplate on front pastedown; light foxing throughout. Otherwise, text clean and binding tight. Protestant pastor Jacob Primmer (1842-1924) describes his travels in Rome, while criticizing Catholic practices and devotions, especially the veneration of Mary and the institution of the papacy. This copy contains a tipped-in slip of paper stating "With the Compliments of the Author.". Seller Inventory # 314715
