Add to basketThis is a first edition of Jassy, the 10th novel by the prolific English writer Norah Lofts (1904-1983). The book was published in the UK in 1944 and in Canada and the US in 1945. This is one of the first US copies.
Lofts is now considered to be one of the most under-rated writers of her generation. All of her books were best-sellers; many were made into films, including this one.
Jassy is best classified as a Gothic Romance. But it is not a romance at all--it is about the life of a troubled woman. It is a ripping yarn with a shocking ending.
This copy is plain green boards, with some shelfwear, just at the edges. The back cover has some marks on it.
Inside, the paper has darkened as you would expect and the binding is loosening a little, just at the title page (see photo).
Overall, it's in excellent condition.
