9" x 12" sheet folded to 8 panels in bright color pictorial cover with rear-view illustration of spreader and showing the beater on the axle. Nice color side-view illustration of the spreader along tops of 2 panels and a rear-view color illustration of the spreader at bottom of one panel. Much detailed information about the spreader to include the advantages of mounting the spreader on the axle rather than in a box. Discusses how the simple beater drive works on horse-power principle; the main axle serves as shaft to beater; the beater is made entirely of steel; the revolving rake makes uniform spreading certain, feed can be changed without getting off the spreader, etc. This patented spreader with the beater on the axle means not clutches to cause problems, no broken chains, the drive wheels are out of the way when loading so that one can see where each forkful is placed, etc. Black and white illustrations of the beater drive, the apron drive gears, the driving arms and ratchet of the apron driving device, a farmer operating the John Deere with a tractor with the spreader controlled from the seat of the tractor, and the endgate for the spreader operated from driver's seat.
