First edition (per presence of Farr & Rinehart logo on copyright page; "War Edition" stated at top of dj front flap). xii, 324 pages. Hardcover: H 21cm x L 14.25cm. Dust jacket toned particularly to rear panel and torn spine; some soiling and shallow chipping; verso tape repairs at spine ends; near lengthwise tear to rear flap fold; front flap retains publisher's printed price ($2.50) at top right. Tan cloth; toning/foxing to spine and boards; Spine decorated with gilt stamping and blue title block. Text block edges toned with leaves slightly affected at margins. Top fore-edge corners of front free endpaper and pages 151-152 creased; occasional light foxing to interior pages. Binding is firm.
