This 5 volume set was created to bring together in one place several publications about Jane Austen's family history, focusing mainly on books that Austen family members published. Several of these books were extremely scarce at the time of publication and some had not been reprinted, creating difficulties for scholars and serious fans. In the intervening years, a few more of these books have been reprinted, but some are still difficult or impossible to find. David Gilson was enlisted to write introductions to all the material. A BRIGHT, CLEAN, TIGHT Near 'As New' Set. High-quality facsimiles are reproduced on high-quality paper, bound in dark blue buckram cloth with gilt titles on the spine. All books are in 'Like New' condition. This is the first edition. The set was published by Routledge priced at c. £1200. There are a few tiny negligible, hardly seen, marks from storageon the slipcase, but it is tight and near As New. Each Book looks unused and there are NO Inscriptions or marks. Once removed from the slipcase the rear of the inner slipcase has some sunning in 'book shaped streaks' to the light card back 'wall', but this is due to light filtering in over the 30 years since publication. Not seen unless you remove all books! . But is why I haven't given this set an higher grading than Near Fine. Printed and bound in Great Britain by Athenaeum Press, Ltd. An Excellent, handsome, seemingly unused, bright, tight and very clean set that seems now to be Very Scarce. See Images. Further images available on request. ; each volume 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
