Large Quarto. (4) 159-170 (3)pp. Original green quarter cloth over illustrated tan boards with black lettering on cover. Green endpapers. One of a series of six separate publications from the book "Jüdische Künstler" on Jewish artists edited by Martin Buber. Epstein was successful in the early decades of the 20th century with his realism of idealized Jewish everyday life, biblical scenes, portraits and landscapes. He was considered one of the most important Jewish painters during his lifetime. Illustrated throughout with b/w in-text reproductions of Epstein's work. Three pages of advertisements for the publisher. Text in German. Wear along edges of binding and narrow water stain near spine from top to bottom. Covers rubbed with few black pen marks and some scuffing. Green endpapers sunned along edges. Some foxing on white free endpapers and yellowing in margins of block.
