A Jew in Christian America

New York: Sheed and Ward, 1966. Bright, clean, square, tight, unmarked copy. Sharp corners. Not a book club edition. Not price clipped (4.95). No remainder mark. No owner's name or bookplate. From the Dust Jacket: "Despite his leading role in the intellectual and cultural affairs of the American community, his lack of numerical strength makes him ignored in other areas. It is doubtful, for example, that a Jewish candidate could be elected to the Presidency of the United States within the lifetime of most readers of this book. This is the context out of which Rabbi Arthur Gilbert has written A Jew in Christian America. It is neither plaint nor polemic; it is an objective history of the marginal life led by the Jew in Christian Europe and in Christian America." Original red cloth. First Printing of the First Edition. Hardcover. Fine condition/Near Fine dust jacket. Illus. by Locurcio, Rosalie (jacket design) . 8vo. 235pp .
