About this Item
Two novels bound together by the Radical Republican activist Albion Winegar Tourgee (1838-1905). Tourgee argued on the losing side of the infamous Supreme Court case "Plessy v. Ferguson" that affirmed Jim Crow racism in America. History now accords that he was on the correct side morally. This is a Very Good (plus) copy of the First Edition. Tan decorative cloth binding, stamped in black; the spine is black and gilt. Clean text; 300 pages and four pages of adverts by the publisher in the rear; and a one-page ad opposite the title page. Corners are bumped (3 to a fray) and there is rubbing to the head and foot of the spine. But altogether, a very respectable copy that presents well. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 002884
