About this Item
The first edition of Keynes' comprehensive biography and bibliography on John Evelyn, illustrated throughout. The first edition of this work, limited to 300 copies, in the publisher's original cloth binding. Frontispiece and a further 24 plates. Collated complete. A detailed bibliography on John Evelyn, an in-depth look into his life and works. Evelyn was an important writer, gardener, and diarist of the seventeenth century. His extensive diary traces his life from 1640 to 1706, detailing the execution of Charles I, the rise of Oliver Cromwell, the Restoration, the last Great Plague of London, and the Great Fire of London. In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with a touch of wear to the joints and extremities. A little play to the front hinge, but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd handling mark. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 842M1
