An original 1865 Civil War newspaper with compelling woodcut engravings and contemporary news account of the hunting down and killing of Lincoln Assassin John Wilkes Booth in an original Civil War newspaper. This May 13, 1865 issue of Harper's Weekly features large half-page engravings of the last days of the hunt for Booth, including one of the assassin burning in the tobacco barn at the Garrett Farm at Port Royal, Virginia, where Booth met his maker. Another engraving depicts officers of the Union Troop assigned to track down the killer, planning Booth's capture. The engravings are accompanied by a detailed report encompassing multiple pages, headlined "The Assassin's End". This issue is complete in 16-pages and is in Very Good condition, with mild age toning. Perfect for framing and display, this historic piece measures 16" X 11". Disbound. #1I-018.
