No date circa 1920s. Illustration = Jaxon + possible others unknown. 32 pages. o/p neat ink August 15th 1924. Following page is frontis 'He's feeling rather ill today'. f/c full page illus.by Jaxon depicting a little girl on a stoll holding a puppy in a blanket. Boy in front of her with a bottle of 'physic' & a spoon ready to give the puppy some medicient. Then title page with lovely b/w illus of a child bending towards a frog. Black titles above publisher details below. The book begins with the poem 'The Sick Dog.' Followed by: Old Friends. Now who do you think these two children are?.They live in the country of Nursery Rhymes.& goes on to outline the rhyme of Jack & Jill. Full page b/w illus. There then follows some wonderful period written stories & rhymes with super b/w + f/c illustrations. Cover illustrated paper on board, white cloth spine. Front - Red titles top, underneath illus of Golly in a cart driving with dolly in a bonnet being with drawn by a wooden horse on wheels. Dog running to the side, sign post to the market b/g. Condition: text held by staples which are rusty. Main body of text holding well but almost loose from cover. 2 pieces of sellotape have been placed over centre outside cover on spine + one piece inside. Cloth spine v thin, holey in places + discoloured. Boards discoloured with age, wear on top/bottom spine, sides + corners which is showing boards. End papers discoloured with age + o/p has owner name which has been scribbled out in black. Small page corner curls but main bulk of text clean, good colour + colour illusts are rich.
