Octavo, 520pp. Appears to be a first edition, not preceded by any earlier printings, though it was published simultaneously in New York and Boston. Ex-library, but with only one small paper label on the spine and small stamp on front paste-down, else unmarked. Good at best in the publiser's plain boards with a contemporary black cloth spine with handmade paper label. Top inch of the title page is missing, but only affecting the words "A Journal," and "Journal" is still partly legible. The book is otherwise clean and bright, with hardly any foxing to the inner leaves. An uncommon volume.
