First edition with colour plates. 8vo. Original red cloth stamped in gilt. The first edition in book form of Kipling's classic for children to feature the wonderful colour plates of Detmold (preceded by a limited edition portfolio). Foxing to frontispiece to tissue guard, some toning to margins, browning to endpapers, gift inscription dated 1918 to front free endpaper; cloth rubbed at extremities with some minor fraying.
