Before his 1959 breakthrough, Naked Lunch, an unknown William S. Burroughs wrote Junk, his first book, a candid, eyewitness account of times and places that are now long gone. This book brings them vividly to life again; it is an unvarnished field report from the American postwar underground. For this definitive 50th-anniversary edition, eminent Burroughs scholar Oliver Harris has painstakingly re-created the author's original text, word by word, from archival typescripts. Here for the first time are Burroughs's own unpublished Introduction and an entire omitted chapter, along with many "lost" passages and auxiliary texts by Allen Ginsberg and others. Harris's comprehensive Introduction reveals the composition history of Junk's text and places its contents against a lively historical background.

About the Author
William S. Burroughs (1914-1997)—guru of the Beat Generation, controversial éminence grise of the international avant-garde, dark prophet, and blackest of black humor satirists—had a range of influence rivaled by few post-World War II writers. His many books include Naked Lunch, Queer, Exterminator!, The Cat Inside, The Western Lands, and Interzone.
Oliver Harris edited The Letters of William S. Burroughs 1945-1959. He is currently a lecturer in American Literature at the University of Keele.

Store description
We are an Internet based business that has been selling books Internationally for going on 25 years. Our inventory consists of 15,000+ titles(prox)of which 95% are Used and/or Rare with a few new items. We try to stock items that appeal to all readers from signed limiteds to comics and everything in between. We tend to specialize in Horror, Suspense Thrillers and Modern Firsts. We don't claim to be the last word on knowledge on anything but know the most about these genres. We stock everything we can find by the following authors: Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Clive Barker, Anne Rice, John Sandford, James Lee Burke, Joe R. Lansdale, Robert R. McCammon, J. K. Rowling to name a few. I am not into long descriptions for my books. What descriptions there are concern the physical shape of the book, not content. I am generally hard on my books when describing them. I do use the usual letter grading but describe every defect that the book has to a point that you may not think that you want to buy it. There will never be a surprise when you receive a book from me. Feel free to email or call if you have any questions. I have a lot more satisfied customers then I do unhappy ones. You can return any book that you buy from me that doesn't arrive AS ADVERTISED for a full refund including return shipping costs.…
