Large decorative Presentation Bookplate on front pastedown in silver and black depicting winter foliage and berries with an inscription "To Miss Isabella Shirley.Mission Band of Hope, for reciting. November 1901." Black and white frontispiece illustration. Original publisher�s cloth binding in red, lettered gilt with a romantic-style embossed illustration of a woman reading a book and a trail of foliage. Period advertisements add graphic interest with a publisher's list of 'Popular Illustrated Books Specially Suitable for Sunday School Prizes and Libraries.' Very good. Slight tanning at spine. Covers slightly used.
